Valslide Side Lunges for Baseball & Softball Players

August 23, 2016 by Austin Wasserman Leave a Comment

Side Slides can be performed in many different ways and is a great exercise to enhance hip mobility, glute function, adductor strength, core stability and balance.
We use the classic Green Valslide for all of our slide work needs! This is an affiliate link. Please use this link to purchase your Valslide.

Exercises such as body weight slides, goblet side lunges or plate side slides are all great examples of intro level and intermediate sliding variations.
When adding a Kettle Bell, it allows some freedom in the movement and places more external load on the fixed leg. It also changes how the trunk/core is activated due to the placement of the KB. The KB will be held in the right hand, when sliding to the right. This means the KB will cross mid-line of the body towards the left knee as that right leg slides.
Sets & Reps
We usually perform 3-5 sets of 5-10 repetitions depending on the individual and the training phase. Give it a try!
